Located in Berlin’s Mitte district, dedicated photography collector Marc Barbey will be presenting the exhibition “Barbara Wolff – Fotografien. In eigener Sache” throughout Berlin Art Week. Shown as a mini retrospective, the work is a selection from Wolff’s Dadaist collages and montages, as well as a series of experimental “photographic explorations”. On the 15th September 2017, a guided tour will take place at Collection Regard lead by Barbara Wolff and Marc Barbey.

EAM COLLECTION

Focusing on the early works of the founders of Lettrism and Lettrist International, Berlin’s Elke and Arno Morenz Collection comprises of around 180 works of painting, photography, sculpture, drawings, films and music, as well as a large number of letters, exhibition catalogues and magazines from this specific post-war Avant-garde movement. Guided tours of the EAM Collection will take place during Berlin Art Week.

HAUBROK FOUNDATION

Celebrating the 50 year anniversary of Berlin and Los Angeles becoming “sister cities”, film curator Marc Glöde and collector Axel Haubrok will be holding a film festival that focuses solely on artist films from Los Angeles, starting on Wednesday 13th September 2017 at Kino Arsenal at Potsdamer Platz. In addition to the film festival, the Haubrok Foundation will also be exhibiting the works by Margaret Honda, Stephen Prina and Christopher Williams, three artists from Los Angeles that work with the medium of film, for the exhibition “la > x”.

JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION BERLIN

One of Berlin’s most recent additions to the collecting community, the Julia Stoschek Collection on Leipziger Straße is a private collection of contemporary international art with a focus on time-based media. Originally opening in Düsseldorf in 2007, the Berlin branch of the collection opened to the Berlin public in the summer of 2016, in a building that formerly housed the the Czech Cultural Center in East Germany. Throughout Berlin Art Week the Julia Stoschek Collection is offering special opening hours as well as guided tours of the current exhibition “Jaguars and Electric Eels”.

KIENZLE ART FOUNDATION

Placing a particular emphasis on bringing art to the public, the Kienzle Art Foundation includes artworks from the 1960s until today, covering mediums from painting to the latest technology trends. Working closely with curators organizing exhibitions, film screenings and discussion forums, as well as lending his work for international exhibition purposes, collector Jochen Kienzle’s engagement in the Berlin art scene goes far beyond the city limits. Opening during Berlin Art Week, the Kienzle Art Foundation will present an exhibition from American artist Gary Stephan.

KUNSTSAELE BERLIN

Opening in 2010, the Kunstsaele Berlin was founded as a private initiative by the collector Geraldine Michalke, the collector Stephan Oehmen (until 2015), the gallerist Alexander Hahn, the artist Michael Müller and the curator Ellen Blumenstein, with the mission to create a public space for art and culture in the creative centre of Potsdamer Straße. Seven years down the line and the Kunstsaele boats an impressive program of artist talks, performances and collaborative events, in addition to the presentation of Michalke’s private collection that spans over three decades. On the 17th September 2017 during Berlin Art Week an art and language speaking of the exhibition “Nobody Spoke” will be performed by the Jackson Pollock Bar.

MUSEUM FRIEDER BURDA SALON BERLIN

Museum Frieder Burda’s new exhibition and project space, Salon Berlin, is located in the former Jewish Girls’ School on Auguststraße, and sees itself as a forum for international contemporary art, with a reference back to the Berlin art scene. Acting as both a showroom and a space for experimentaton for the Museum Frieder Burda, the exhibition of works from Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg will have special oepning hours throughout Berlin Art Week.

SALON DAHLMANN

The Salon Dahlmann is collector Timo Miettinen’s vision to establish a connection to Berlin’s salon culture tradition, located in West-Berlin. In addition to the Salon’s eclectic program that includes exhibitions, concerts, performances and workshops, Miettinen has also made sure to devote the entire house to contemporary art and design from Germany and Finland. The Salon Dahlmann is an absolute must-see for anyone interested in the salon tradition of Berlin, and where it is headed for the future.

SAMMLUNG BOROS

The collection that barely needs an introduction – Sammlung Boros is a private collection of contemporary art that is located in a converted bunker in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte district. Now showing it’s third presentation in the bunker, the Boros Collection is now showing newly purchased and site-specific works, in combination with artworks from the 1990s and 2000. Known for its notoriously long waiting times to get a slot to visit the collection, throughout Berlin Art Week there will be no prior registration needed when visiting the bunker.

SAMMLUNG HOFFMANN

One of Berlin’s secret gems, the Sammlung Hoffmann. Located in the private residence of Erika Hoffmann, the Sammlung Hoffman is the presentation of a collection of contemporary art that began in 1968. What was initially began as a collection based on the personal interest of Rolf and Erika Hoffmann, soon exploded into a growing collection of internationally renowned artists. For one day on the 16th September 2017 during Berlin Art Week, Erika Hoffmann will be opening the doors to her home to give a private guided tour of the collection.

SAMMLUNG IVO WESSEL

Somewhat of a fixture of the Berlin art scene, collector and software developer Ivo Wessel has a collection that is both profound and yet humorous, featuring German and international video and concept art. Co-Organizer of the successful monthly film screening series, “Videoart at Midnight” at the Kino Babylon, Wessel’s collection is normally not open to the public, but for two days during Berlin Art Week you can register to see inside this exciting collector’s home.

SØR RUSCHE SAMMLUNG OELDE/BERLIN
Schlüterstraße, 10629 Berlin

Textile entrepreneur and fourth-generation collector, Thomas Rusche, has made a name for his SØR Rusche Sammlung Oelde/Berlin Collection as a permanent fixture of Berlin’s art and culture spots. Acquiring an extensive collection of old paintings from his grandfather and Old Masters from his father, along with Rusche’s own collection of contemporary painting, the SØR Rusche Sammlung Oelde now contains over a whopping 2 500 artworks from over 500 artists, the collection is divided between the family estate in Oelde and the Berlin-Charlottenburg apartment. On the 14th and 15th September for Berlin Art Week, Thomas Rusche will be giving guided tours around his Berlin residence with prior registration.

THE FEUERLE COLLECTION
Hallesches Ufer 70, 10963 Berlin

The Feuerle Collection is dedicated to international contemporary artists as well as Imperial Chinese furniture and Southeast Asian sculptures. Housed in a former telecommunications bunker, the collection forces the viewer to react to works of different periods being shown together, and the conversation that that creates. The total museum space of 6480 m2 includes two main exhibition rooms, a Sound Room, a Lake Room and an Incense Room, which will be opened in October 2017.

WURLITZER PIED A TERRE COLLECTION

Located in a historical building from the 1930s, the WURLITZER Berlin-Pied-à-Terre Collection exhibits mostly contemporary art from Berlin, in the environment of a typical Berlin-Mitte living pad. Normally off-limits to the public, on the 16th September 2017 during Berlin Art Week the WURLITZER Berlin-Pied-à-Terre Collection will be offering guided tours around this very special private residence and collection.
