La 15ª Bienal de Estambul, titulada Un buen vecino y comisariada por el dúo de artistas Elmgreen & Dragset, dio a conocer hoy la lista de artistas participantes de la edición de este año, que se celebra del 16 de septiembre al 12 de noviembre de 2017. Entre los artistas que participan en la Bienal se encuentran Pedro Gómez-Egaña (Colombia), Liliana Maresca (Argentina), Victor Leguy (Brasil), y Alejandro Almanza Pereda (México).

Organizada por la Fundación de Estambul para la Cultura y las Artes (İKSV), la 15 ª Bienal de Estambul reúne obras de 55 artistas de 32 países, que abordan diferentes nociones de hogar, pertenencia y vecindad. La bienal se lleva a cabo en seis sedes: Istanbul Modern, Galata Greek Primary School, Ark Kültür, Pera Museum, Yoğunluk Atelier y Küçük Mustafa Paşa Hammam.

En lugar de generar un statement curatorial, los curadores desarrollaron 40 preguntas que han guiado el proceso de realización de la exposición. Estas preguntas fueron presentadas por primera vez en vivo en Estambul, en diciembre de 2016, por 40 performers de diferentes edades, géneros y culturas, y fueron luego compartidas en el sitio web y las cuentas de redes sociales de la Bienal.

“Tu vecino puede ser alguien que vive una vida muy diferente a la tuya. Los artistas de la 15° Bienal de Estambul plantean preguntas sobre las ideas de hogar, vecindario, pertenencia y coexistencia desde múltiples perspectivas. Algunas de las obras examinan cómo han cambiado nuestras condiciones y modos de vida domésticos y cómo nuestros vecindarios se han transformado, mientras que otras se centran en cómo hacer frente a los desafíos geopolíticos de hoy en un nivel micro. La Bienal toma forma a partir de las declaraciones personales o analíticas de los artistas invitados: una mezcla de esperanzas y visiones, de tristeza e indignación, de historia y de actualidad”, señalan los curadores.

La Bienal también contará con un programa público -talleres, charlas y simposios- coordinado por el artista Zeyno Pekünlü que abarca una variedad de eventos y discusiones relacionadas con el concepto de “buen vecino”.
